i paint to paint

I’ve been saying I paint to paint for so long, but that phrase doesn’t really work for me anymore. Maybe it’s just more than that—that my life as a house painter and a fine art painter are basically becoming one and the same. As I'm looking into the bucket, it just keeps getting deeper.

For example, the bucket I use for painting has become the inspiration for my fine art Bucket Series. I see beauty inside. I photograph it and recreate it on canvas. The bucket I use to paint houses and rooms carries color, monetary value, inspiration, and love. Love of what I’m doing, pleasing the client, pleasing myself, and taking it home and making art that I love.

That’s a lot of love.

I’m from the sixties, and love was the theme.

The visualization of a room changing color increases my capacity in front of the canvas. There’s a mind, body, spirit connection. When I’m whole and present, it allows the love to flow and complete the cycle of who I am.

I didn’t like what I was doing for a long, long time. I didn’t like that my work as a painter took me away from the studio. But that all has changed now. Now I’m always painting, and I’m always grateful.

My love of work.

Of making painting.
